Facelift & Neck Lift

Natural Results.
Thoughtful Planning.
A Face That Still
Looks Like You.

A facelift should never change who you are.

Dr. Joel Studin approaches facial rejuvenation with one goal: restoring youthful structure and definition while preserving the character, expressions, and individuality that make your face uniquely yours.
By addressing the deeper tissues of the face and neck, not simply tightening skin, a facelift can restore jawline definition, improve neck contours, soften jowling, and create a refreshed appearance that looks natural both at rest and in motion.

You look amazing. Did you do
something different?

That's the goal.

Considering Facial Rejuvenation

Is It Time?

The decision to have a facelift is deeply personal. For many people, it isn't about looking younger—it's about feeling like their reflection no longer matches how they feel inside.

  • Your jawline has gradually softened...

...even though you've maintained a healthy lifestyle.

  • You notice changes in your neck...

    ...more than anywhere else.

  • You find yourself avoiding certain photographs...

...or always searching for your "best angle."

  • You still feel like yourself...

...but your reflection no longer matches how you feel.

If any of these feel familiar...

The next step isn't deciding to have surgery. It's simply starting the conversation. During your consultation, Dr. Studin will listen to your concerns, evaluate your facial anatomy, and help you understand your options. Together, you'll decide what feels right for you.

What a Facelift & Neck Lift Can Address

The Face and Neck Age Together.
The Correction Should Be Individual.

A facelift and neck lift address structural aging-changes that occur as the skin and deeper supporting tissues loosen, descend and lose definition. They are not intended to erase every line or change the features that make you recognizable. Although the face and neck are closely related, not every patient needs the same correction.

  • Lower face

    Lower face

    Lower-cheek descent and laxity
    Early or established jowling
    Loss of jawline definition
Loose skin through the lower face
Folds that deepen as support descends

  • Jawline & beneath the chin

    Jawline & beneath the chin

    A softened or irregular jawline
Loss of separation between the face and neck. Treatable fullness beneath the chin. Loose skin extending below the jaw. Imbalance among the chin, jawline and neck

  • Neck

    Neck

Loose or sagging neck skin. Loss of a defined chin-to-neck angle. Visible vertical platysmal bands. Tissues that have loosened or descended

THE NATURAL PLAN

The Technique Should Follow
the Anatomy.

No two faces age in exactly the same way. Skin laxity, facial support, volume and proportion change differently from one person to another,
so a facelift should never be planned from a predetermined formula.

The Natural Plan begins with a careful evaluation of what has changed and what should remain untouched. Dr. Studin tailors the direction and degree of lift to your anatomy, restoring definition while preserving the movement, softness and character that make your face recognizable as your own.

Your face determines the plan. The right technique helps achieve the right result.

The plan begins with understanding what should be restored and what should remain untouched. The direction and degree of lift are tailored to preserve softness, movement and the features that keep you looking like yourself.

FACIAL SUPPORT

Where deeper tissues have descended or lost definition.

SKIN LAXITY

How much skin can be repositioned naturally without creating tension.

FACIAL PROPORTION

How the cheeks, jawline, chin and neck relate to one another.

IDENTITY & EXPRESSION

The distinctive features, natural movement and character that keep you looking like yourself.

SMAS vs.
Deep-Plane Facelift

Why I Choose the Approach I Do
By Joel Studin, MD

Why I Choose the Approach I Do

More than 30 years of plastic surgery has taught me something important: going deeper and wider does not, by itself,
make a facelift better.

Modern surgery allows us to release, lift and rearrange the face from a deeper plane—working on and around the nerves, glands and other structures responsible for movement and feeling. My training and reconstructive experience have fully prepared me to operate in those deeper planes. The question is not whether I can take more of the face apart.

The question is whether I should.

More surgery should produce more benefit—not merely more risk. Every additional maneuver must earn its place by providing enough cosmetic improvement to justify the risk it adds, and the final result must still look natural. I have watched techniques come and go, often promoted enthusiastically before anyone could possibly know what problems might emerge or how the results would hold up years later.

That risk-benefit calculation is at the heart of why I continue to favor the SMAS facelift.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

The Right Candidate Is Defined by
More Than Age.

There is no single age at which a facelift or neck lift becomes appropriate. What matters is whether aging has created structural changes that surgery can meaningfully improve—and whether the patient is healthy, prepared and seeking a realistic result.

    YOUR GOALS & EXPECTATIONS

The goal is a younger and fresher looking YOU!

DR. STUDIN'S PERSPECTIVE

The Question Is Not Simply Whether Surgery Can Be Done.

The more important question is whether a facelift is the best choice for your anatomy, whether it offers a meaningful improvement and whether the result can remain natural.

GLP-1 WEIGHT LOSS & THE FACE

What People Call "Ozempic Face"
Is Not One Change.

Significant weight loss can change the face as well as the body. As facial volume decreases, the cheeks may appear flatter, folds may become more visible and skin that once looked supported may begin to appear loose. Although these changes are commonly called "Ozempic face," they are not unique to one medication. They can occur after substantial weight loss, whether achieved through GLP-1 medications, bariatric surgery or lifestyle changes.

Illustrated portrait showing where facial volume diminishes and tissues descend

FACIAL VOLUME

Where fullness has diminished through the cheeks, temples or other areas of the face.

FACIAL SUPPORT

Where deeper tissues have descended, creating jowling or reduced jawline definition.

DR. STUDIN’S PERSPECTIVE

The Goal Is Not to Replace Every Ounce of Lost Volume.

Attempting to refill every area of volume loss can create a face that looks heavy or unfamiliar. Dr. Studin evaluates where volume has diminished, where tissues have descended and which changes will help you look great.

Why the Difference Matters

A facelift repositions descended tissues and restores definition. Volume restoration addresses selected areas of facial deflation. Depending on your anatomy, the most natural result may involve one approach or a carefully planned combination.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What Patients Ask Most

There is no single age at which a facelift or neck lift becomes appropriate.
What matters is whether aging has created structural changes that surgery can meaningfully improve-and whether the patient is healthy, prepared and seeking a realistic result.
Is there a right age for a facelift?

No. Candidacy is determined by the changes that have occurred—not by a specific birthday. Your anatomy, health and goals matter more than age alone.

How long will my facelift results last?

A facelift creates lasting improvement, but it does not stop the aging process. How your face continues to age depends on your anatomy, skin quality, lifestyle and the extent of correction performed. Dr. Studin’s goal is a natural, well-balanced result that continues to age gracefully with you.

Will I still look like myself?

Yes, that is the goal. A well-planned facelift should restore more youthful contours without changing the features, expressions and character that make you recognizable. Dr. Studin's approach is designed to preserve your identity, not create a different face.

Can nonsurgical treatments provide the same result?

No. Injectables, lasers and other nonsurgical treatments can improve specific concerns and may be appropriate when aging changes are mild, but they cannot reposition descended facial tissues or remove significant excess skin. When those structural changes are present, surgery provides a different level of correction.

Will people know I had a facelift?

The goal is for people to notice that you look refreshed—not to know why. By restoring facial contours without creating an overly tight or altered appearance, Dr. Studin aims for a result that looks natural both at rest and in motion.
